Movies, Movies, Movies!

Monday, September 15, 2014

I actually had a plan to watch other movies this month but I never got around to watching that many movies all together. I squeezed in these movies here and there so I'd have something to recommend to you guys and if it weren't for you I would probably be too lazy to even watch anything. Here I go!
Edge of Tomorrow: This movie went beyond my expectations and I am still not over how good it was. This was an action packed, edge of your seat movie that I just could not get enough of. I was sad it was over because it was well written, directed and acted. Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt gave their all to this movie and it was nice seeing Emily Blunt in such a physical role. This movie even suprised most of its viewers (including me) with Cruise's character, Major William Cage. He is not what you expect of a Tom Cruise character but it's so much fun watching a different, new side of Cruise.
Epic: If you want to have a favorite animation character added to your list than you need to watch this movie. I was laughing so hard at the snail and the slug I knew they would be the reason of why I loved this. It was absolutely brilliant how funny they were and I just can't get over it. The movie in general was good too and it gave you the feels but I can't say it was a favorite. I was definitely satisfied though.
Godzilla: I really liked the music throughout the movie, it was quite traditional and from what I've read it's better that way. Generally the movie was slow and the plot was unexpected but it gave a new approach to Godzilla I think. I don't know if thats a bad or a good thing.
The Girl Who Played With Fire: Well I could not wait for a Hollywood remake of this movie so I went ahead and watched the Swedish version this week. It was so much better than I had imagined. Of course I liked Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander much more than Noomi Rapace but I could deal. But I have seen on some reviews that the Swedish version is more like a TV movie and I gotta say I agree with that completely. When I think about the David Fincher remake of the Dragon Tattoo all I can think is that the Swedish ones fall short. But they are no way near bad, I simply don't like them as much.

Which movies should I watch net? I need recommendations!!

DIY: Film Canister Lipstick Holder

Thursday, September 11, 2014

Hello everyone! You all know by now that I am very much into taking film photos but what you don't know is that I never throw out things that may come in handy someday. In this case; film canisters. I had started to develop somewhat of a collection of canisters and I've always wanted to do something with them. So when I bought some spray paint at the store for a decent price I had to use some of it before summer was over. So I thought why not paint over some canisters and stick them together! And although that idea was a cool one it was pretty frustrating to complete and here are the reasons:

1. This was my first time spray painting and I thought it must be easy but I was wrong. I'm pretty sure it was hard because of these small cansiters that aren't heavy at all. So they kept flying away and I painted too close and it got all thick and weird. Therefore some parts didn't turn out as pretty as others.
2. I touched the canisters to check if they were dry too soon, hence the finger prints.
3. Bottom of the lipstick holder did not dry as quickly and got stuck on to the dressing table (which came off with nail polish remover, fortunately!) To prevent this from happening again I cut out a piece of paper in the same shape and stuck it to the bottom.

Even though the stuff I mentioned above happened I still like my new lipstick holder. I made it with ma own hands and I'm keepin it-- at least for a while!
P.S. I did the spray painting before glueing the cansiters together. I thought that would be easier.

Film Photography: Vintage Binoculars

Monday, September 8, 2014

Hi all! I'm back with a new set of film photos. These are from the last batch but it's based around a different object. And as you can see and probably tell from the title that the object is the vintage binoculars. It is not a recent purchase but a treasure that has been in our family for a long time. I always take it out of its gold box and admire it and the last time I did that I introduced it with my Zenit 122. I set up a nice vintage setting in my room (mostly on my bed) and decided to just hit that shutter button and be happy with whatever I got. Since I was only testing out the film (which I have told you about in the last post) I really didn't expect much. I am happy with how they turned out and I am especially in love with the one that is half burnt.

And before I forget, thank you for all the nice comments that you've left on my last film photos I was totally over the moon. I will try to share more from now because I enjoy it and I sense it that you are enjoying it as well. Hope you like these and don't forget to tell me your favorite!

Makeup Revolution: Amazing Lipstick Review

Friday, September 5, 2014

I haven't been having a lot of productive days lately. It seems like all I want to do is sleep and just watch random stuff on YouTube. Nevertheless, I have been wearing and testing out these Makeup Revolution lipstick since the day my sis got them for us (she's awesome). Anyways, when I saw on Twitter that they were having free shipping on international orders one weekend I knew I had to give it a try. I read other reviews on other blogs about their products and got a bunch of stuff to pass the minimum amount to get the free shipment (which was £20). Among the stuff we got were these Amazing Lipsticks they had for a pound. I initially wanted the blue color but it was sold out so we went for yellow and purple.

The original name for these are Amazing Lipstick Felony (yellow) and Amazing Lipstick Depraved (purple). While Depraved is a lipstick that I am definitely in love with I am sadly to say that Felony has dissapointed me. When me and my sis tried it on we knew it wasn't what we were hoping for. For both we were going for a matte finish and while we got that for purple, yellow was quite sheer. We kept putting more on but it just wouldn't do the trick. Maybe it was because it's a lighter color? I don't know.. Oh but I gotta say when you use the flash on your camera the yellow will show up but I'm not fond of using flash so that's no use. That is the only con though. Other than that they are soft, they smell good, the packaging is nice (but Felony was broken) and they are cheap!

In short: You will definitely see Depraved on me soon but I do not know what lies in the future of Felony. We will see... Have you tried any of Makeup Revolution's Amazing Lipsticks? Tell me, tell me!
