Movies, Movies, Movies!

I want to start off by saying that I was truly sad to hear about the death of Robin Williams. He was surely one of my favorite actors and his kindness, humour and energy reflected to me every time I watched him somewhere. I always go back to watching him on Ellen and being so impressed of his accents and I never ever get bored of watching Jumanji. I had some of his other movies, which I never got around to watch, on my watchlist and I'm going to watch them asap.. as a tribute to his memory. He will be missed. Love you Robin Williams, RIP.

Minority Report: Tom Cruise and Sci-Fi/Action genre are always a good match. When I'm looking to watch something action packed and out of this world I tend to check out his filmography. I can't say much about Tom Cruise himself as I have no interest in his beliefs or actions but he is a good actor. He does his job well and that's what I like to see in a movie. The script was great and since the movie is about crimes that are about to be commited in the future, you kept wondering what led Tom Cruise's character to be a perpetrator in the system and how he would prove it to be false. Quite an edge of your seat movie.
The Lucky One: Cute pass time movie about love that develops quite interestingly but ends quite the way you would expect. I can honestly say that The Notebook is my all time favorite romantic movie but I don't know if it would have been that way if it wasn't for Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams and their unbelievable good on-screen chemistry. In this movie I didn't feel any chemistry between Zac Efron and Taylor Schilling and that was a problem since they are the main characters falling in love. Schilling alone was great though and it was interesting to see her in a different role than in OITNB but Efron seemed quite emotionless.
Lucky Number Slevin: I wasn't expecting much from this movie but it did fulfil my epectations (much more than I had of it). Actors were top notch and you wouldn't expect any less from Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsley, Stanley Tucci, Lucy Liu and of course Bruce Willis. My thoughts on Josh Hartnett are average but he portrayed his character so well in this movie.
Gegen Die Wand/ Head-On / Duvara Karşı: I can say a lot about this Fatih Akın movie but I'll keep it short. It's a medium budget movie, brilliant storyline and acting, very realistic, interesting editing and directing, long, international but also cultural etc. 3 languages are used throughout the film.. mostly German, then Turkish and a bit of English. You will need subtitles if you're interested in watching this movie about the unique love of Cahit and Sibel. It is a drama of course so get ready for it.
Safe Haven: Another Nicholas Sparks adaptation. I have never read any of his books so when I write reviews for the movies it only concerns what I have seen. In the movie we are taken to this amazing town with wonderful scenery and we witness the growing love of Katie (Julianne Hough) and Alex (Josh Duhamel). What is interesting with the story is that we don't know what the deal with Katie is until the end of the movie and I was quite impressed with how much I was shocked about it. It was a nice detail to a plain story.
That Awkward Moment: Since I unleashed Zac Efron from his cage, which I put him in after High School Musical, I thought it would be a nice idea to watch another movie from him. I was annoyed with this movie and it wasn't even funny. Quite a waste of time really, I don't even have much to say about it.
Man of Steel: Hey superman, how about you save the city without wrecking it? No? Okay then. I love superhero movies and yes I loved this movie too but I did hate certain things about it. 1- What I said above; wrecking the city to a whole new level. 2- The directing; I did not enjoy the constant zoom ins and outs. 3- Where was his disguise Clark Kent; don't leave that shit out. Anyways Henry Cavill WOW. I love that man.

  1. I love Safe Haven! I thought it would be silly and sappy, but it was pretty rockin'! ;)

  2. I wish Zac did better movies! He needs to find a co-star with better chemistry for sure.
