Books I've Been Reading (Goal Recap)

Thursday, May 29, 2014

Huckleberry Finn by Samuel L. Clemens: This edition (Best Loved Classics) was published in 1953 and it says on the first page that it's an exact verbatim reprint of the first edition which means that it would include every typo or other peculiarities of it. There are lots of different dialects used in this book and I had trouble with all of them. Yes, I understood after a while but it just made the reading more slower and slower thus the book was finished in 2 months. I liked the content of the book, the adventures were fun and I loved going on them with Huck but I wish the form was simpler but of course 1953 is old. I should've known better! I wonder how the newer versions are, hmm.

Third Girl by Agatha Christie: I really love mystery/crime novels, they are thought provoking, exciting and fun. Therefore I decided to read an Agatha Christie novel considering her books are one of the best in this genre. Some parts of this book were exciting (you had to find out what was to come next) and some very confusing (you read a page over and over). I guess the confusion comes with the characters because they are also very confused throughout the novel until the end of course, when everything is revealed ta da! I guess I could say that this book wasn't really what I hoped it would be but I'm going to read other books by Agatha Christie for sure.

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green: Well who wouldn't love this book anyway. It's such a lovely love story that will make you laugh and it will definitely make you cry. I literally read this book in a day and I'm not even using the word 'literally' in the wrong context here. I recommend this book to anyone who just wants to leave reality for a while and enter the world of Hazel and Gus. Let Hazel tell you her story! Oh and by the way I can't believe the movie comes out like next week, I'm definitely going!

The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom: Let me start off by saying that I read this book for the second time to remember why I loved it so much in the first time and I still don't have an exact answer. This is my favorite book for sure but like I said I don't know why. I can say that I like the main character Eddie, I like reading about the people he meets and the stories they tell him about themselves and their impact on his life. I like that these impacts result in lessons to be learned, things to be discovered.

P.S. That means I've crossed off 4 books from my goal to read 15 again this year! I know it's a slow start but Summer is here and that is a lot of free time <3 Hope you enjoyed this and see ya next time!

You Never Know How It'll Turn Out, It's Expired Film.

Saturday, May 17, 2014

I bought a Fotohome Kleurenfilm for a lira which equals to about 50¢ in the US and about £0.30 in GB. As you can see it's very cheap and you can't really expect so much. I still always believe that you have to give every film a try because you never know how it will turn out. This one only takes 24 shots. I used my Zenit 122 as it's my favorite because it will give you perfect results with light and it has an amazing lens. This film turned out very grainy and the hue is a bit off in greens and pinks as you can see. I thought I could eliminate the colors and edit the film to bw (even though I'm not a fan of editing film photos). I think making them bw was the right choice because I believe it gave the photos a certain sense of depth.

What do you think about the film? Do you like my bw edit? Would love to know your thoughts! P.S. I put some up on my Flickr page. You can view them double the size of how they are here there, CLICK HERE. P.S.S. The 4th one from top was taken by my sis and I'm the person in the middle there.

Movies, Movies, Movies!

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

I didn't watch many movies the past month as I had a ton of things to do and I did want to catch up on some reading.. But I did watch enough movies to talk about on here. So hope you enjoy reading!

Memento: This movie was on my watchlist on IMDB for the longest time and I finally got around to watching it. Really loved the fact that the story started at the end and slowly showed us the beginning. I made guesses throughout the movie that did come true so some things were a bit obivous but I was still shocked at the end. I thought it was brilliant. The acting, directing and the storyline (the way it evolved and everything) was superb.

Tonight You're Mine: I wanted to watch an indie movie last week and this popped up in a list and I thought why not? The movie is set in Scotland's T in the Park festival so shooting this film only took 4-5 days which is how long (give or take) the festival lasts. That being said, it is not the best production. I mean the lighting is off at some scenes and some of the acting is just stiff. The story is predictable and cheesy but even with all that it was still a nice movie with fun, love, excitement and music!

Source Code: I love a good Sci-Fi movie and this one did not dissapoint. A friend of mine suggested this to me as she is also very into the whole Sci-Fi thing so I did not hesistate and watched it the day after. Right when this movie starts you find youself in it. It doesn't wait or take a long time to get into the story it's already there. All you do after that is think what will happen next and than the movie is over in a jiffy. That means that it's upto pace and very exciting that you don't even know how time passes by. The story is interesting too but there was a few questions left in my mind after it was over so I went online and researched lol.

Submarine: Another movie that was on my watchlist for a long time was this one. I found this movie boring and a bit weird but I am sensing that the weird thing is what they were going for anyway. I liked the concept of it though and I totally get where main character is coming from with all the emotions and such but that's about it really.

Everyday Makeup Essentials

Saturday, May 10, 2014

I've been really into watching YouTube videos lately, mostly about makeup or hauls etc. The makeup ones made me more interested in putting on makeup. I used to NOT put on a lot of things and I still don't but I've found that having a few extra beauty products wouldn't hurt. That's where the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation and The Balm Cos. Blush comes in. I have used foundation throughout highschool but the minute I went into uni I stopped. I was just lazy and my face was dry but at the same time with acne so I wasn't feeling it. Same thing goes with the blush but I didn't use any of that before. I did forget to add my lipstick to these photos but I mostly use Kate Moss 107 or a recent 110 purchase that my sis bought which is more coral than red. Anyways onto the essentials..

This foundation is incredible. I put on some cream before I apply it because well my face is so damn dry yo. It actually smells amazing like it already has some kind of moisturizer in it that makes it smell so good which is always a plus when you are putting something on your face. Also it blends in great and covers up any imperfections/acne and makes the face all one color (I have some redness on the classical T spot. Pores suck.)

My sis bought this blush and it works magic on our faces. It's a dusty rose color and its really bright when you put it on so I try not to put so much on because it'll be too much. Less is more, is my motto. But it's definitely moneys worth.

I won this from a giveaway a long long time ago and I actually shared it on here I think but I've started using this in the begining of this year mostly. This Bourjois eyeshadow is amazeballs. It's says the number is 08 so if you want a slightly shimmery tan color for an eyeshadow you better check this one out. I use it every single day (literally).

I've already talked about this but it is still my favorite eyeliner. It's easy to use and stays on forever and comes off pretty easy when taken off with makeup removers. It's also not expensive, which has always shocked me because you think it would be worth more but it isn't. It's just great.

P.S.: I still use all the things on my Can't Live Without Makeup post. As you can see, on there lipstick, eyeliner and eyeshadow choices are (pretty much) the same but I have stopped using primer on a regular basis but I still do use it (I just don't want it to end).

If the sky comes falling down, for you there’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do.

Hi peeps! I had planned that I would do an outfit post and I had the opportunity yesterday to take some shots and share with you. My sister helped me out with this one so hugs and kisses go to her. It was hot yesterday and we were going to go the marina so I thought I would wear this outfit. I like to wear jeans but none of them are as funky and summery as this one that I just got last month. It is also the first high waisted jeans I've purchased so I'm pretty excited to wear it every single day haha. The shirt I got from h&m a while back when they had a huge clearence and I just started to wear it for the first time these days. I'm starting to love mismatching prints and I think I hit the jackpot with these two, but of course I'll probably find other amazing combinations. Also I bought new shoes! Loving the quality of them (wouldn't expect less from Lacoste) and they are so comfortable, much better than chucks. And of course I added my favorite necklace from Sugar&Vice to give the outfit a much more summery feel. I felt tropical all over ♡♡

 Knit Sweater: LCW
 T-Shirt: H&M
 Necklace: Sugar&Vice
 Shoes: Lacoste

P.S. I forgot my lens cap in my back pocket during this photo session so it might look like I have an extra piece of ass but nope that's not me lol. But you probably wouldn't have noticed it anyway but now I've told you so yay me.
